Hark! The Rockefeller Angels Sing…

I wanted to leave you with this shot from Rockefeller Center for the holidays. One of my favorites from this winter so far. I’m headed home, so the blog will go a few days without any updates. It’s been a great holiday season in NYC. Everyone is here. The shows are at capacity. (By the way, go see In the Heights. And, I know it’s late, but the Rockettes show is very cool too.)  If it doesn’t rain or all melt away, we should have snow on the ground for Christmas. All is good. All is bright.

Christmas Ornaments in NYC Mean More, Weird Photo Perspectives

I was rushing this morning, but managed to snap off a few shots in the city’s holiday decorations. The lights and reflective ornaments are great not only to shoot but to use for fresh perspectives.  (Just make sure they’re a little cleaner than these were for crisper shots. Sometimes you can’t do anything.)

The NYC Holiday Rush

The city was crazy this weekend as tourists and New Yorkers alike hurried around to start their shopping and decorating and merrymaking. The traffic was bumper to bumper, the sidewalks spilled onto the streets, and strands of lights kept the night sky light well past usual. It’s simply too much, but hey, it makes for decent photos.

This photo is available for purchase at my ETSY shop, ISpyNYC.etsy.com.

It also hit my camera while I was doing a long exposure and somehow managed to move it enough to capture the sign and all of the lights around it in one big explosion.

New Billboard Put Up on 7th (12.29.08)

It seems like new advertisements are constantantly popping up all over Manhattan. A new this, a sale on that. It’s really quite overwhelming. But for all the large scale ads I encounter I’ve never seen one being put up. Until this morning…

Now it’s down with the Christmas sales banners and up with the “you need to look as hip as these people” ads. This one is at 108 7th avenue. Happy shopping!

Decorations (12.9.08)

Christmas is in the air. It’s on the streets. It’s everywhere you look. Excuse me — the holidays are in the air. And our celebrations of all things pine, fur, or spruce are on display in abundance.

These bows line 9th street in between Broadway and 6th. They even made the four-foot high pile of garbage on the corner look a little cheerier.
